Tell us about yourself and what led to the Residency?
I am a Salvadoran-American artist based in Maryland with a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. As an interdisciplinary artist it has been a while since I last used a digital loom. My current research and practice has led me to reference my personal archive of images, which I aim to render on the Digital Jacquard loom.
Have you had any previous experience with Digital Weaving or Jacquard?
Yes! I previously attended this residency in 2023!
Any goals for the residency that you would like to share?
For my time at Praxis, I aim to work with more multi-weft structures and play with scale. I am excited to dye some weft in Indigo, saving some of the yarn from my previous visit to get more variation in color!
