Tell us about yourself and what led to the Residency?
We both were previous residents in 2023 and are excited to return as a duo to work on a new project on the Tc2.
Have you had any previous experience with Digital Weaving or Jacquard?
Yes! Both of us were residents in 2023.
Any goals for the residency that you would like to share?
We've been exploring differential growth algorithms and their relationship to lichen growth, how it spreads, colonizes, and creates organic patches. Using bespoke software we built, we developed visuals that we are translating into cloth both through the woven structure the pictorial depiction. The past two weeks we have been moving between our software, testing yarn materials, and iterating our weave structures as we work with the Tc2 to create this new body of work. We've also started experimenting with lichen dyes in the studio and are excited to bring this into the series.
