Tell us about yourself and what led to the Residency?

I am a non-binary Taiwanese artist and director based in Chicago, working across moving image, sound, light, shadow, and sculpture.

My practice reconfigures memory through composite media and time-based forms. Since 2023, I have been expanding my work through material exploration, especially on TC2 digital jacquard weaving. The TC2 loom offers a unique way to explore the relationship between image, material, and narrative.

I see the Praxis residency as a rare opportunity to fully immerse myself in weaving, allowing me to deepen and extend this line of inquiry.

Have you had any previous experience with Digital Weaving or Jacquard?

Yes

Any goals for the residency that you would like to share?

I want to develop a poetic and personal visual language that moves between memory, time, and material. I work with hand-drawn imagery and everyday signage, through the contrast and merging of different yarns, I am interested in destabilizing the boundary between illusion and reality, where images begin to feel both constructed and strangely familiar.

At the same time, I want to leave room for play or unexpected—to emerge within the process, allowing the work to oscillate between intimacy and lightness.
