Tell us about yourself and what led to the Residency?

Hand weaving has been part of my artistic practice since 2017. I started by taking weaving classes at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts while finishing my undergraduate degree at Western Michigan University, after graduating I continued weaving independently.

Have you had any previous experience with Digital Weaving or Jacquard?

I do not have experience with Digital Weaving, I do however have experience designing, programming and operating Shima Seiki programmable knitting machines. While pursuing my MS Fashion Design degree from Drexel University I focused heavily on machine knitting and was a graduate assistant in the Shima Seiki Fashion Knitting Lab for 2 years.

Any goals for the residency that you would like to share?

My goal for the residency is to improve my understanding of digital weaving through hands-on experience on the TC2 loom. I would like to produce a variety of samples which utilize the TC2 to explore the potential for graphic rendering & structural compositions.
