Tell us about yourself and what led to the Residency?

I am an artist and formerly a full time caregiver in NYC. I've visited Praxis in the past and love returning to this community of makers!

Have you had any previous experience with Digital Weaving or Jacquard?

I am fortunate to have learned the TC2 during my times in graduate studies first at OCAC, then Cranbrook. It has and continues to heavily influence my practice and how I think about making work. My first and biggest project to date is an ongoing woven documentary, "If You Don't Owe Somebody". As my projects keep evolving and I expand to other crafts, such as screen printing, I appreciate how the TC2 grounds my work in the materiality, weight, and woven structure of cloth making.

Any goals for the residency you'd like to share?

My art practice often utilizes text and during this residency I am continuing a project I started during my previous visit at Praxis in 2024, Alphabet on Society. Attempting to give life to each letter of the alphabet, the TC2 is a favorite tool to do so! This time I will focus on letters such as A,G,M,T,V,X, and Z!
