Tell us about yourself and what led to the Residency?

I am a weaver and textile artist in Asheville's River Arts District. Our city experienced catastrophic flooding last September. My woven selfie from the TC-2 workshop was included in a deck of cards and coffee table book honoring artwork lost to Hurricane Helene. When I shared the news, someone sent me a post about the Digital Weaving Lab residency. I have been wanting to further explore the TC-2 more for years and I'm excited for this opportunity to dive in and learn!

Have you had any previous experience with Digital Weaving or Jacquard?

I took a Digital Weaving workshop at Convergence in 2014 and loved it.

Any goals for the residency you'd like to share?

My goal is to create a body of work for exhibition, while getting comfortable with the TC-2. I'm particularly interested in exploring imagery and complex twills that I can't weave on my current multi-shaft looms.
