Tell us about yourself and what led to the Residency?

I am a long time weaver with a background working in jacquard and shaft looms. This was my second round at Praxis on the TC-2. I was drawn to this residency because I knew that access to this technology would be a great opportunity to push myself and my ideas…and being at Praxis is beyond a special place to be for two weeks!

Have you had any previous experience with Digital Weaving or Jacquard?

I have a long background designing industrial jacquard upholstery fabrics so the process is second nature to me but to have access to this new (to me) technology as an artist and handweaver is mind blowing. My first Praxis residency left me wanting more and after my second round, I’m already looking for my next opportunity to work on another TC-2 loom.

Any goals for the residency that you would like to share?

My specific focus was on weaving a version of pointillism where I learned to control dots and color blending.
