Praxis seeks to offer a variety of educational opportunities focused on all processes related to textiles and fiber art. As we build our programming calendar for 2024 and beyond, we are accepting class proposals on an ongoing basis to diversify our offerings and further amplify the creative possibilities of this field. 

We love learning new techniques and welcome proposals dealing with fiber at any stage. This stretches from the handling of raw materials (fiber prep, farming or foraging dye stuff, processing plants, growing vegan leather, etc), through the creation of finished objects (via dyeing, weaving, sewing, quilting, knitting, crochet, embroidery, surface design, basketry, soft sculpture, tatting, etc), and anything before/in-between/after. As the field of contemporary textiles is constantly evolving, we encourage innovative and experimental ideas.

​We are looking for passionate instructors who are personable and confident in their abilities. Instructors work solo at Praxis and should feel comfortable leading a classroom of 8-12 adults. Our classes are taken by a combination of beginner and experienced artists, and it is crucial that an instructor can meet the needs of all students. While we accept proposals from anywhere in the world, please be aware that Praxis has a limited budget for traveling artists. If you are not local to Northeast Ohio, we kindly ask that you contact us to see what is possible. Instructors are compensated based on experience with a minimum starting rate of $30/hr.

Our workshops take place on the weekends and are either 1 Day (Saturday 10am-4pm) or 2 Day (Saturday & Sunday 10am-4pm). Our classes take place on weeknights for 3-5 weeks, typically 6-9pm. Praxis is responsible for class materials, either through direct purchase or via reimbursement. In planning your proposal, check out our studio inventory here for available equipment/supplies.
