The Plain Dealer, October 17, 2015 By Steven Litt Artist-entrepreneur Jessica Pinsky will offer the first in a series of free domestic violence weaving and healing workshops at her fiber-weaving studio, Praxis Fiber Workshop, 15301 Waterloo Road, Cleveland, during an open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The workshop, according to a news release, will include access to domestic violence caseworkers enabling victims to share experiences. The release states that one in four women will experience domestic violence during her lifetime and that children in abusive homes are more likely to be abused or become abusers themselves. Through her workshop, the release said, Pinsky hopes to help those in the Cleveland area who are going through this difficult process of leaving an abusive home. “The therapy of working on a loom to create a large fiber piece can help to highlight that transition from victimization to empowerment,” Pinsky said, according to the release. “It is my hope that this workshop will help these survivors work through their experiences and provide a safe environment that understands exactly what they are going through.”
