Volunteer to grow indigo for Praxis at home! |
Our Natural Dye project is the way that Praxis connects most deeply with our neighbors. With funding from Gund Foundation, Cleveland Foundation, Cuyahoga Arts and Culture and Fowler Family Foundation, it is the only project at Praxis that is fully grant funded and volunteer based. In a time when it is dangerous to gather, we have pivoted our project to include as many people as possible.

Here’s how you participate:
- Sign Up Here
- Praxis, together with indigo garden managers Little & Wells Inc. and the Cleveland Seed Bank, will provide you with everything you need in a kit (indigo plants, soil and organic fertilizer).
- Kits will be ready for pick up on site at the Praxis garden somewhere around Mothers Day.
- We will post online tutorials on how to care for and harvest your indigo plants throughout the summer. View last season’s videos on our youtube channel.
- Volunteers will give us the harvested leaves in exchange for a free indigo workshop in the fall using Praxis’ own natural indigo you helped grow!
Each volunteer will receive 5 plants. Plants should be spaced 12″ apart
You can plant indigo in a raised bed, directly in the ground or in pots. Indigo loves sun! You will have the best results if you choose a sunny place in your yard. You can share a kit with a friend if you don’t have enough space! If you wish to grow more than 5 plants, please let us know and we will be in touch if there are extras as it gets closer to pick up. |
