Quilting in the Age of the Pandemic |
February 3 – March 22, 2023
Opening reception: February 3, 6–8PM EST A selection of quilts created remotely but collectively by members of the MICA Quilt Group. The group, founded by artist Susie Brandt, has raffled off numerous quilts to benefit various causes, organizations and scholarships. In 2020, the pandemic forced participants to scatter - so they resumed weekly over Zoom, via a website and the USPS. Word spread and seventy-six people from throughout the US joined in. These quilts reflect an ongoing exchange of ideas around race, gender, age, sustainability, hope, gratitude, thrift, color, pattern, craft histories, grief, and joy. |
